Various factors aggravating energy metabolism disorders

Oppdatert: 15. feb. 2022

Energy/Mitochondrial dysfunction, temporarily or chronic will affect particularly the most energy demanding organs like the brain and eyes, then the heart, muscles, digestive system, endocrine glands and more, depending on the severity. A proper nutritious diet is only one element to feed the mitohondria, sunlight and oxygen are other important factors. Energy metabolism dysfunction with its many and often horrible results is an organic/physical cause which will affect the entire system including the brain. Simply lack of carnitine can cause symptoms similar to that of mitochondrial disease because carnitine deficiency will also cause an energy dysfunction, which again attack vital organs like the brain. I have an energy dysfunctional multisystem disorder that temporarily attack the most energy demanding organs first, in addition to fatigue (with symptoms waxing and waning depending on the current severity of the condition). In my case it is mostly genetic, but also aggravated and worsened due to various stressors, including eating too little in periods (although even when I have eaten normal and several meals a day, it did not help all that much). In any case when there is an obvious energy metabolism dysfunction as an obvious cause, for genetic reasons and or exacerbated by other stressors, and also not feeding the mitochondria properly, the root of the problem need to be addressed. You do not send people to a shrink when there is an organic cause with an energy dysfunction. Neither would you send a patient who have temporary fever hallucinations or hallucinations due to a snake bite to a shrink for instance. I do not experience such symptoms myself though, but just an example. Non-infectious Encephalitis (brain inflammation) can have a host of symptoms and can also affect the mental state. Depression and nervousness/anxiety and behavioral changes due to encephalitis (brain inflammation) is listed as symptoms. (Nervousness and depression among other things has been linked as symptoms of migraines and encephalopathy ,and is common in multisystem disorders also affecting the brain due to brain inflammation. But these symptoms may and may not occur, it depends on the type and severity, what areas that are affected etc. So some of these symptoms may occur rarely and some more often, depending on the current state.

Brain inflammation whether infectious or non-infectious will have similar symptoms. Whether the cause is an energy dysfunction or a direct toxin like a virus or bacteria, the symptoms will be similar as they both cause brain inflammation. Brain inflammation will cause an excitatory neurotoxic state, from mild to severe, which in its mild form might be smaller things like mild migraines with slight inflammation, feeling slightly nervous/wired, fatigued etc and when worsened due to say, decreased energy when the cause is an energy dysfunction, will cause more severe symptoms such as severe vestibular migraines with a host of related symptoms and close to an epileptic state where the slight physical nervousness has aggravated to become epileptic in nature. And during such severe attacks one can sense how the brain start moving faster and faster like a rocking boat in a breeze to a full storm or hurricane and very low threshold potential of the brain. Though there are also other changes when the brain is severely attacked that come and go like extreme pressure in the brain and ears, feeling that the brain is on fire, various forms of dizziness and vertigo, mild physical/neurological type of wired/tired or to slightly epileptic in nature, severe pain to mild or none, yet still other uncomfortable symptoms and much more) and is mostly related to increased and decreased energy like before and after rest/sleep, before/after activity or exposure to much stimuli or energy draining activities etc. In addition to my experiences and although it affect people differently, my husband who has Lupus which is also a multisystem disorder where several organs are affected just as in Mitochondrial disease, has reported many times how when his gaba medications (anti seizure meds) that he has to take morning and evening, he will notice then how he startle very easily from the smallest sound, even a whisper sometimes, in which he will take an extra gaba pill to increase the threshold potential again to more normal levels. (that some would call anxiety/panic, which I would call physical nervousness with low threshold potential Not tolerating movements and sounds in this state is neurological and is simply the brain trying to protect itself as it simply do not tolerate much if any stimuli in this state. However it can also sometimes make you more prone to have your emotions affected. In this severe excitatory neurotoxic state which is neurological and organic as a root cause can lead the person to more easily develop fears in this state. This will often resolve or improve at least if or when the severity of the excitatory neurotoxic state is lessened or disappears, with incresed energy and brain healing remedies such as sleep or rest in a dark, quiet room without stimuli. But when this brain inflammatory state is chronic or go from mild to severe every single day due to say an energy metbolism dysfunction, they will usually need anti seizure medication in addition. That is Gaba medication. See article with explanation by Dr. Cheney regarding the following. Going from left to right and ending up at normal where seizures is to the far left and normal is in the middle. Whether coma is to the far right I do not know, the illustration going from severe excitatory neurotoxic state to the far left, to less and less severe and increased threshold potential as you go towards normal, and then sleep is at least very true. This is true and a fact, especially in energy dysfunctional illnesses. I also posted a video from a specialist in Mitochondrial diseases explaining something very similar. And what remedies are the most effective for shorter setbacks and longer relapses:: much rest and even better, sleep (a few days to weeks) or in worse relapses months and very severe relapses years. Going outdoors for shorter walks or depending on your current energy envelope and preferrable in sunshine and comfortable temperatures can help as well if the state is not too severe. Oxygen, combined with a little movement /exercise) in nature (but only if you manage it due to severe inflammation in legs and or too light sensitive if the brain inflammation is extreme (not just severe, but extreme, if extreme it is impossible to endure almost any light). Gaba medication to reduce brain inflammation and excitatory neurotoxic state (see recent posts). Water therapy like bathing, massage therapy, avoiding most if not all forms for stress and most activity and stimuli. Adequate nutrition and avoid too exteme fasting.

30.6.17 In the middle of a setback (mild to moderate) triggered by overexertion after heavy exercise, when I was starting to feel worn out and listening to very loud music a week ago. Today I did not only have severe migraines with vertigo, but also inflammation in the inner ears and sinuses. I was also sniffling and sneezing. I also seemed to have brain fever or brain inflammation with strong pressure and hardening and swelling of the veins in my temples with fever all day and evening since waking up, and while I was burning inside my skin, also warm to the touch. Fever reducing medication (2 paracteamol) did not help to relieve the fever, neither did a bath and I even got worse afterwards. I tried a fan against my head and it helped slighty, but not significantly. However anti seizure medication/gaba medication helped best for this particular attack, to both reduce the high fever and brain inflammatory state for a little while until the symtoms gradually started to return. Not the first time in the morning though as the dosage was probably too small and symptoms too severe. This worsening of symptoms was brought on by too much “exercise” the day before in the middle of a setback and also noise that set of a reaction in my inner ears and brain, since my brain was already sore due to ongoing migraines lately, with no longer periods to heal properly and hence for the sensitivity to lower as a result.
